Our Business Story
New Zealand Adventure Guides was originally established in 2012 to operate tours in New Zealand for overseas adventure travel brands, including National Geographic Expeditions and MT Sobek (formerly Mountain Travel Sobek). We put their company logo on our vehicles and our guides wore their uniforms so that we could represent the best of New Zealand for their international brand. We planned, organised and operated every facet of the trip from the time their guests’ stepped off the plane until the time they got back on the plane 11 or 12 days later.
For six seasons we successfully operated in the background like this, making sure that the experience we provided each guest was seamless and that everything ran smoothly, safely and professionally. We must have been doing something right because National Geographic Expeditions informed us that New Zealand Adventure Guides set the standard for their operations around the globe.
At New Zealand Adventure Guides we are experienced guides first and foremost. We strive to provide safe tours with exceptional customer service because we are proud Kiwis who love showing our country to our guests and do everything we can to ensure that they have an incredible experience here in New Zealand with us.
We are not a budget operator, nor do we ever intend to be. We only offer tours at the higher end of the market with a minimum of 4 star accommodation on our standard pre booked tours, 4 to 5 star accommodation on our bespoke tours and the country’s most exclusive 5 star plus properties on our VIP tours. Each accommodation, food, or activity provider is screened and continually monitored to make sure that our guests’ have the best experience possible in each location we visit.
We know our guests. They like their comforts at the end of a days adventuring, including a comfortable bed in a nice hotel or lodge, a hot shower, an excellent meal, and perhaps a glass (or two!) of local wine.
New Zealand is a world class destination in itself. By keeping our standards to the highest level, keeping our groups small, and providing each tour with a knowledgeable, safe, and fun guide, we continue to provide world class experiences on every tour we operate. We know this because past guests who have travelled extensively around the world have told us so.
